FACT SHEET

1.       The 2001 Gay/Lesbian Consumer Online Census by Syracuse University/OpusComm Group, Inc./GSociety, Inc. is the first grand-scale research into the consumer habits of the Gay/Lesbian worldwide market to be conducted by a major university.

2.       The Census was developed by the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, in collaboration with and commissioned by:

     OpusComm Group, Inc.

An award winning advertising and public relations firm with over 16 years of experience

serving the Fortune 500, who has naturally evolved into specializing in consultation of

sensitivity issues and market plan development for mainstream clients targeting the

     Gay/Lesbian Community.

     GSociety, Inc.

A media/entertainment company who’s reach and distribution channels target gays and

lesbians around the world, featuring powerful e-commerce and travel services, and the

company’s Internet portals GayWired.com and LesbianNation.com, the most comprehensive,

     targeted and interactive sites available.

3.       The goal of the 2001 Gay/Lesbian Consumer Online Census is to become one of the tools used to educate mainstream advertisers about this unique niche market which has been widely ignored in the past.  With an impending downturn in the economy, it is imperative that advertisers not only acknowledge, but reach out to this consumer group with positive messages in mainstream media.

4.       This landmark study is the first in what is hoped to be ongoing research by the partnership regarding the economics and spending habits of the Gay/Lesbian Community.

5.       Gay/Lesbian Community members can participate in the Census by accessing it on the Internet at www.glcensus.org  from July 9 to August 9, 2001.

6.       Copies of the published 2001 Gay/Lesbian Consumer Online Census and its analyses will be available for purchase upon completion of the study.
